Julius Fernan Garrido was born in Manila, Philippines and started his journey to photography as a staff photographer for The Philippine Collegian, a weekly student news and features paper from the University of The Philippines Diliman, his alma mater. There, he covered important Philippine events such as the EDSA Revolution II which happened during the ouster of the former president, Joseph Estrada in 2001.

Being trained as an architect, he worked various jobs related to the construction industry in Manila, Singapore and in the US until he pursued full time photography in 2020. He is currently based in Denver, Colorado where he is a regular contributor to OUT FRONT Magazine, the second longest-running LGBTQ publication in the country.
